August newsletter message from our Stewartry U3A Chair
The full newsletter is emailed to all members, usually monthly.
Hello and welcome
As we approach the end of Summer, our thoughts turn to our Autumn Season of activities.
Our Members Meetings recommence on September 26th with our guest speaker, John Nelson, recounting the story of the last man hanged for horse stealing in Scotland.
We still have excursions on offer to visit gardens for their autumn colour, and our big coach, fish & chips and heritage tram trip to Blackpool to see the Illuminations. Full details are contained in this Newsletter.
None of these activities, the Groups, the Members Meetings, the Excursions, the Events, would be possible without the efforts of a small band of helpers, many of whom have helped for some years. Later this year a number of these helpers plan to stand down so we now need a fresh band of members to come forward to collectively help run our u3a.
We need members with the following talents:
• – book-keeping experience
• – clerical experience
• – website administration experience
• – marketing / media experience
• – organisational skills
• – anyone willing to muck-in and help where needed.
I am very grateful to everyone who has helped make this u3a what it is today.
However, as Chairman I need more helpers to ensure Stewartry u3a has a future. So please contact me via a link on the Contacts page and let me know what you can do. The old saying of ‘many hands make light work’ is as true today as it was in our youth. So please let me know what you can offer as you are needed now.
Stephen Bullock, Chair
