Hello, and a warm welcome to our new members
The full Monthly Newsletter is emailed to members.
This month’s Members Meeting is the last of 2025, so it is fitting that our speaker this month reflects upon the traditions of Christmas. Erica Johnson, one of our busy members, will take us back in time to the origins of our Christmas traditions, some more ancient than we thought.
I have been asked this month to draw members attention to the consultation where D&G Council are asking for feedback from the public on the Budget that is being proposed. This process concludes this week, and it is important that everyone takes time to study and reflect upon how our Council speeds our money. Full details are on the Council’s website.
Our Annual General Meeting is being held this month immediately before the Members Meeting. At the AGM you will hear that our u3a is financially secure, we have had a busy year successfully offering numerous ways to enjoy ourselves, make new friends and learn new skills.
I am very pleased to report that we will have a full committee for the forthcoming year. This is your opportunity to come and meet the new committee and also thank the retiring members who stand-down this year. All committee members donate their time and skills voluntarily to ensure that our u3a successfully offers members what they seek. So please come along and show your appreciation.
This is my last ‘Chairs Intro’ for the Newsletter, as I stand down as Chairman at the AGM after 8 years on the Committee including 3 years as Chairman. I wish the new committee continuing success, and I wish to thank all the members who have given me feedback and encouragement over the years, many of whom I now consider to be friends. Thank you all.
Stephen Bullock, Chair
