We will enjoy a leisurely drive through the Lake District arriving in Coniston to board the Steam Yacht ‘Gondola’ for a short scenic voyage across Coniston Water, arriving at Brantwood in style. The home of John Ruskin, the Victorian artist and writer for nearly 30 years, the house and garden contain many of his artistic treasures. The garden and woodland walks offer outstanding views of the lake and hills, which are full of history. A cafe is available for light lunch or bring a picnic. Pickup points: the Glenkens, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie. Cost: £55 including Gondola fare and entrance to Brantwood.
