A rare opportunity to visit James Boswell’s family home which is owned by the Landmark Trust. It is grand 18th-century country house in its own grounds, riverside walk, ice-house and grotto. Normally a holiday let, it is part of the Doors Open Day programme. The Trust restores properties to a very high standard retaining original features. Partly due to this, the property has lots and steps and so is not easy access.
Entry is free though donations are welcomed. Boswell’s Coach House café is close by when coffee calls! We shall then be travelling the short distance to lunch at Boswell Coach House. We will leave Castle Douglas at 9.30am and get back around 5.00pm. Cost of minibus £20. If you are planning on attending but don’t require transport – PLEASE LET US KNOW and whether you will be joining us for lunch.
