July / August 2024 Newsletter message from our Chair

Hello, and welcome to our new members

With this months Newsletter members will find attached a copy of the Programme of Talks for our Monthly Members Meetings in 2025. On your behalf I wish to thank the Speakers Team (Eileen Johnson, Ruth Airley, Alison Elkins and Alan Keith) for attracting a selection of speakers who are speaking on a varied and interesting range of topics. Please make a note of the dates in your diary now to ensure that you do not miss any of these talks.

As predicted in previous Newsletters our u3a is busy during the summer months. In this Newsletter we have reports from various excursions that have taken place during the past few weeks, together with reports from a number of Groups who have been very active enjoying life and making a contribution to the health and wellbeing of our communities. All of these Reports illustrate that we have an energetic and vibrant u3a.

We still have more excursions planned for the remainder of the year, so please take a look at the Upcoming Events article and book your seat.

Also attached with this Newsletter is a copy of “The AGM Special Resolution – How will it affect our u3a?”  This relates to the national body of the u3a and will make fundamental changes to how the national body operates. Our u3a will be asked to vote on this resolution shortly. Full details are available to read on www.u3a.org.uk/agm

Lastly, this month the Newsletter includes an additional article from me entitled Chairman’s Observation. I ask that you take time to read this article and reflect on both my comments and upon my request to you, a member of our u3a. I am asking all members to do their bit for our u3a.
