Some members of the Local History group are starting a research project to keep our minds active as well as investigating a street that has been at the very heart of Stewartry history. High Street in Kirkcudbright has no less than 59 listed building, 5 of them category A (buildings of national or international importance), buildings owned and frequented by many fascinating people down the centuries. We shall be looking at the history of both the buildings and the people. Due to current restrictions the research will initially be mostly online, and we shall get advice from local experts and be supporting each other – as is the u3a way.
