Ideas for new groups

Contemporary Dance – we already have a few members who are interested but need more to make this viable.

Local History 2 – this is such a popular subject so a second group will be to be created and will be based in Dalbeattie. Just a few more members needed and this group will be launched.

Whist – we have a facilitator and just need some members for this group so that a date and venue can be fixed.

Vegetarian/Vegan Cooking – A number of members would try their hand at cooking and eating nonmeat dishes.

Our Spanish Conversation Group is looking for members to join them. So if you are looking to brush up up your Spanish skills please use the contact form to find out more. Thanks.

Do you have Mahjong skills?

Mahjong is proving to be a very a popular game in the Stewartry U3A. It is a tile game of skill, strategy and luck. A second group is looking to form and will be based near Dalbeattie and this novice group is looking for an experienced player to help develop their skills. New Badminton Group

A new Badminton Group will be starting in mid-November 2019. It will be based at Haugh of Urr village hall each Tuesday afternoon.

Groups news May 2019

Photography 2  will meet at 10.00 on the 2nd Wednesday at various locations. 

The Beach Cleanup Group has been doing sterling work on the Stewartry beaches and our next clean will be at Southerness on Saturday 6 July. If anyone is interested in joining the group, we clean for 2 hours in the morning and then retire to a local hostelry for lunch. Dogs especially welcome!

The Internet and Society Discussion Group is now up and running on the second Monday afternoon of the month. We cover all sorts of topics from the most philosophical to the technical basics.

New Group Venues wanted

If any member knows of any Village or Church Hall, Hotel or Pub room not being currently used by Stewartry U3A groups, but would be a suitable venue, could you let us know using the contact form.  

We are compiling a list and need to know

  • who to contact
  • a brief description of facilities and size
  • cost
